Safe job search in Kuwait

Most OnKuwait ads are ordinary. A few are scams. These warning signs repeat in the local market. Read them once so you do not learn them with a bank transfer.

Do not pay for a job

A real employer in Kuwait does not ask you to transfer dinars to “open a file”, “process a visa”, or “reserve a bed” before you have started work. If WhatsApp asks for Western Union, MoneyGram, or an e-wallet in someone else’s name, stop. Report the listing. Block the number.

OnKuwait does not charge job seekers an application fee. If someone claims they work here and asks for money, they do not. Our address is info@onkuwait.com. We will not message you from a personal Gmail asking you to pay a “verification”. We do not have agents in other countries collecting cash in a shop.

Training that you pay for at a private institute is a different thing, and it is still not a job. If the ad is a vacancy, the money should move from employer to worker after work, not the other way around on day zero.

Check the listing before you send documents

A higher salary in private chat is not a promotion. It is bait. Open the job page again. If the public ad says 180 and the voice note says 280 if you pay a deposit, you are not negotiating. You are being walked.

Groups on Telegram and Facebook recycle old OnKuwait titles with new numbers. Always open onkuwait.com and search the title. If the job is gone, treat the WhatsApp as gone too.

• Is the ad still live on OnKuwait, or did the link come from a random group?
• Does the WhatsApp number match the number on the listing?
• Are they asking for your passport and bank card in the first message?
• Is the meeting in an office or housing you can visit in daylight, or “send money now”?
• Does the salary on WhatsApp jump 100 dinars above the number printed on this site?

Interviews, housing, passports

A meeting in a public restaurant or an open shop is normal. A lobby with a receptionist is better. A car park at night is not. Do not hand over an original passport in a car. A copy after you have seen the workplace is a different conversation from giving the booklet to a stranger who “just needs it for the file”.

If housing is promised, ask whether it is a bed in a shared room, a partition, or a promise with no address. Ask who else sleeps there. Ask if the rent comes out of the first salary. Save the salary, hours, and rest day on WhatsApp before day one. A voice note disappears. A chat sits there when the story changes on Friday.

Women-only roles should still meet in a place you can leave. A private flat with the door locked behind you is not an interview. Take someone with you or meet at the salon, clinic, or office named in the ad.

Applying from outside Kuwait

Lawful overseas hire goes through offices and contracts, not an Instagram account that promises a job in a week. A local ad that wants someone already in Kuwait is not a ticket for you. Read who can apply.

If you are already in Kuwait, do not quit your current job until you have something in writing from the new employer. A thumbs-up emoji is not writing. A message that names salary, start date, and who pays for transfer steps is closer.

How to report, and what we can and cannot do

Each job page has a report control. Say if they asked for money or pretended to be OnKuwait. We review and take the ad down when it checks out. We can warn other readers by removing the listing. We cannot reverse a transfer you already sent. We are not a bank.

If you already lost money, go to the police and the proper authorities. Keep the chat, the numbers, and a screenshot of the listing if you still have it. Do not pay a second person who claims they can “recover” the first payment. That is the sequel to the same film.

If we remove an ad and the same text comes back from a new account, report it again. Persistence is part of the job on a public board. Yours is to stop sending dinars. Ours is to keep taking the bait down.

Patterns that keep coming back on Kuwait WhatsApp

The clone listing: same title as an OnKuwait ad, new number, salary raised by fifty. The “HR coordinator” who only exists in chat and wants a medical fee today. The overseas job that is actually a local till, used to collect passport copies from people who are not even in the country. The recovery specialist who appears after you have already paid, offering to get the money back for a second fee.

None of those people need you to be foolish. They need you to be in a hurry. Slow is the whole defence. Open the listing. Match the number. Meet in daylight. Do not pay. If the job is real it will still be there after you have eaten lunch.

Women-only ads can still be bait. A ladies salon that exists on a map is one thing. A flat with no sign and a locked door is another. Take someone. Sit near an exit. Leave if the story of the job changes before you have seen a chair.

If you are a Kuwaiti citizen, the scam sometimes wears a patriotic sentence: “file fee so we can register you as national hire.” There is no such fee on this website. Report it. If you are an expat, the sentence is usually “transfer processing”. Same report button.

We publish this because the job cards cannot hold an essay. The cards stay short. This page is the essay. Read it once. Then use the board as a board: public ads, public numbers, no deposits. That is the entire safety product we can actually ship.
